The current state of the world, we can only hope for better days. And as tough as it is to pick up the paint brush when mind is cloudy and create with all that’s going on right now, I do find that once that initial step is taken.. it’s a good getaway to relax your mind and unwind for that moment ❤ The ones from the above are some I’ve created so far. They vary from acrylic paintings to water colour/ink paintings – both mediums I love to work with.
The one below is a special one made by my mom, she hasn’t painted in ages and I’m glad to have had to chance to sit down and create together:

It’s an absolute honor that one of mine was selected by the panel of jurors to be displayed at the 34th Annual Juried Exhibition by the Scarborough Arts (2019).

It teaches us our core values, capabilities and what we want to strive to achieve for the future. This artwork represents the growth of a coloured young woman who is still blooming into who she is. Learning and growing along the way, each fully blossomed flower representing something she has triumphed and overcome.
This relates back to how I felt as a young girl moving to Canada and continuing to grow into who I am today and who I want to be tomorrow. This required stepping back and looking at how far I’ve come, being thankful for the lifelong lessons and giving importance to my mental health as an individual. Human self-reflection in life is necessary to thoroughly examine and see the type of person we want to be. This all started with adjusting to an environment I wasn’t familiar with coming from an immigrant family and learning to water my roots in order to grow.
